With over 180 aircraft and approximately 7 acres of indoor exhibitions - Duxford can be enjoyed whatever the weather. Currently there is the Battle of Britain Exhibition giving an insight into life in Britain at this time and features an RAF Hurricane fighter and genuine Luftwaffe Messerschmitt 109. The Operations Room provides sound affects to recreate a real enemy bombing. There is the American Air Museum to enjoy, which stands as a memorial to the 30,000 Americans who died flying from the UK in the Second World War, featuring amongst others, the mighty B-52 and the B-17 featured in the infamous film “Memphis Bell”. In September there will be the 'Battle of Britain Anniversary Air Show' celebrating 65 years since the aerial air battle and the Autumn Air Show in October. There is also the Land Warfare Hall which has a display of tanks and military vehicles. Duxford is a living and working museum that is well worth a visit.
